I will post more pictures and updates regarding developments/projects in San Mateo.

Sana lang mas maging active ang mga co-members natin dito sa Batangsanmateo Forum Board (kasing active sana nung isa pang forum website na member din ako - SkyscraperCity www.skyscrapercity.com/). Hindi na kasi maiiwasan ang mabilis na urbanisasyon/industriyalisasyon ng San Mateo. Katabi ba naman ng mga bigating Antipolo City, Marikina City at Quezon City.

Marami kasing issue sa San Mateo ang kailangang napag-uusapan dito... Sabagay kasi karamihan ng mga members dito ay mga kabataang mag-aaral pa lang sa elementarya at sekondarya at hindi pa ganoon ka-mulat sa ginagalawan nilang kapaligiran...
Samantalang marami rin kasing mas "matured" members ang nasa ibang bansa naman o sa iba na naninirahan...

No prob! Medyo limited nga lang ang maibabalita ko kasi hanggang Guitnang Bayan 2 lang ang inaabot ko mula Banaba, developments sa Dulong Bayan 1 and 2, Guinayang, Malanday, Maly, Silangan, Gulod Malaya, Sto. Niño, at Pintong Bukawe hindi ko lubusang na-mo-monitor ang mga nangyayari...

Yup, naniniwala akong magsusunod ang establishments dito.

Yehey! Malapit na ang opening ng Puregold San Mateo , may nasabi na kasi si Boy Abunda sa The Buzz na pupunta siya sa pagbubukas nito, hindi ko lang matandaan kung kelan, hehehe

Hindi ako maka-tsempo ngayon ng pics kasi digicam ginagamit ko (minsan ko na lang dinadala) tapos maaga ang aking pasok (medyo madilim pa) at super late na ang aking uwi (gabi na - madilim...), tapos lulan lang ako ng jeep na mabilis at madalas puno ng pasahero kaya mahirap pumwesto para sa pagkuha ng litrato sa Puregold...

Basta, nakalagay na ang malaking monumental sign ng Puregold San Mateo sa facade nito, pinturado na ang buong building ng trademark colors nila na green at yellow, yung malaking tower sign, Puregold San Mateo pa lang nakalagay (wala pa yung ibang tenants), pero yung Mercury Drug may tarp na, nakapaskil na sa north building at ang nakalagay ay soon to open

Sakto sa pamimili para sa Pasko especially para sa Noche Buena, pero yung ibang tenants, malamang next year na talaga

Dalawa pa lang yung alam kong tenants ng Puregold San Mateo: Mercury Drug which is the 2nd branch after Mercury Drug in Ampid and KFC which will be the 1st branch in San Mateo

Stimulus funding for transport projects

FOUR METRO MANILA transportation projects may be funded next year by a P100-billion initiative that will be jointly financed by the public and private sectors, proponents of the pump-priming plan said.

Some economists, however, say such projects will not have an immediate pump-priming effect because of long bidding processes involved, adding that ventures outside the capital and those targeting education must also be considered.

The four projects — commuter train upgrades and new expressways serving the metropolis — will join at least six other infrastructure proposals under review, the list of which will be finalized next month along with the rules to govern the P100-billion fund, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Chairman Emeritus Donald G. Dee said.

Half of the stimulus fund, which was announced by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as a PCCI proposal in October, will be shouldered by government financial institutions such as the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System, and National Development Corp. The private sector will participate by pledging equity in a project via build-operate-transfer schemes or commercial bank loans.

"The President wants [Romulo L. Neri, SSS president and chief executive officer] to oversee the program ... The Development Bank of the Philippines will be the custodian bank," Mr. Dee said in a telephone interview late last week.

"We will be working on the [disbursement rules] over the holidays and then we have to get back to the economic managers and the President. By January, we will give the final list [of projects]."

The four projects likely to make the list are:

* the 47.5-kilometer C-6 highway from Bicutan to Meycauyan;
* a "grand central station" on North Avenue and EDSA to complement the planned connection of various rail lines;
* the 11.7-kilometer extension of the LRT Line 1 southward with the addition of eight new stops traversing Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Bacoor in Cavite; and
* the 17.69-kilometer "Skyway 3" which is proposed to run from the end point of Skyway 1, pass through the cities of Manila, Mandaluyong, Quezon, and Caloocan, and terminate at the North Luzon Expressway.

Readiness for immediate implementation, job creation, and contribution to the country’s competitiveness were among the criteria used to pick the projects, PCCI infrastructure committee Chairman Enrico L. Basilio said in a separate telephone interview on Friday.

Asked to comment, former Budget Secretary and now University of the Philippines economist Benjamin E. Diokno said in a text message yesterday: "These large scale projects may be socially desirable but these are not the kind of projects we need now."

"Bid evaluation ... could take months. Assuming no legal wrinkles, winning bidder starts project within few weeks or months. We need to create a lot of jobs now, not a year or two years from now."

University of Asia and the Pacific economist Peter Lee U concurred, saying: "We can’t waste time. I tend to agree that we’ll probably feel the recession more next year.

He also advised that pump priming projects outside Metro Manila be considered.

"Manila has a lot of economic activity," he conceded. "But you have the whole country to look over. I presume they would study which other areas [to include]," Mr. U said in a telephone interview.

He added, "We also need to beef up our education system. We need hard infrastructure but we need to invest in our people as well."

Construction for the central station is targeted to begin as early as March next year, Mr. Basilio said. But the other projects will start work much later.

Construction to extend the LRT Line 1 is scheduled to begin in September 2009, while groundbreaking for Skyway 3 and C-6 is slated for 2011, PCCI documents show.

TOLLWAY PROJECT
DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION

The proposed alignment for MMT C-6 will start from the proposed Manila South Skyway (MSS) at the vicinity of the Bicutan Interchange, will run eastward by viaduct over the existing Gen. Santos Avenue towards Laguna de Bay. On the lake shore, the line, on earth embankment, will veer north following the shoreline, then northeast passing through Taguig, where it will move inland at-grade in a northeasterly course towards Taytay, then northward through Antipolo and San Mateo. Thereafter, the line will shift in a northwesterly direction, then westward through Quezon City, Caloocan City and will end at the MNE in Meycauayan.

The alignment will have a total length of 47.5 kms, consisting of the following road sections:

* Viaduct sections - 5.18 kms
* Fill sections, lakeshore (water) - 2.38 kms
* Fill sections, land - 11.90 kms
* Cut and fill sections - 26.91 kms
* Bridges and other structures - 1.09 kms

Eight major interchanges are proposed, dividing the alignment into 7 segments as follows:

Segment 1 – MSS/Bicutan to Imelda Ave. Ext. - 8.3 kms
Segment 2 – Imelda Ave Ext. to Ortigas Ave. - 7.4 kms
Segment 3 – Ortigas Ave to Marcos Hwy - 5.6 kms
Segment 4 – Marcos Hwy to JP Rizal Street - 7.5 kms
Segment 5 – JP Rizal St to Commonwealth Ave. - 5.6 kms
Segment 6 – Commonwealth Ave to Quirino Hwy - 5.3 kms
Segment 7 – Quirino Hwy to MNE/Meycauayan - 7.8 kms

Total Length of MMT C6 - 47.5 kms

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

The MMT C-6 project is envisioned:
1. To provide a direct link between the Manila North Expressway (MNE) and the Manila South Expressway (MSE), thus enhancing trade and socio-economic interactions between the northern and southern Luzon provinces;
2. To alleviate the worsening traffic condition along Metro Manila’s major road arteries, particularly along EDSA (C-4), C-5 and MSE from Alabang to Manila;
3. To provide improved access to and between outlying municipalities in eastern Metro Manila, distribute inter-urban traffic loads more equitably, and act as catalyst for the development of areas east of Metro Manila.

ENGINEERING ENGINEERING
ASPECTS ASPECTS
• Existing Road Sections Along the Proposed MMT C6

1. A 2-km stretch of Gen. Santos Avenue from the Bicutan Interchange to the shoreline of Laguna de Bay. A viaduct over the avenue is proposed.
2. A portion of Highway 313 (Manila East Road) from its intersection with Rodriguez Avenue (Highway 21) south of Taytay to Ortigas Avenue, about 2.4 kms long. Widening of the stretch and provision of service roads for local traffic are proposed.
3. A 2-km portion of Commonwealth Avenue within the Fairview Park Subdivision in Quezon City. A viaduct over the stretch is proposed.
4. A 3-km stretch of wide subdivision road through Bo. Lagro, Quezon City. It is proposed to acquire this section to be commissioned as part of the tollway, provide service roads on both sides and install a flyover to connect both sides of the subdivision.

• Interchanges, Bridges and On/Off Ramps
Interchanges are proposed in areas where there are a substantial number of potential MMT C-6 users and where MMT C-6 intersects major radial and arterial roads. These interchanges will be located at the intersection of MMT C-6 with

1. the proposed Manila South Skyway in Bicutan which will serve as the south terminus of the proposed tollway and link it to South Luzon provinces.
2. the proposed Imelda Avenue Extension which is planned to be a major land development area.
3. Ortigas Avenue which will link the tollway with the heart of Rizal Province
4. Marcos Highway which will link the tollway with the Marikina-Infanta Road, the major eastern Luzon corridor.
5. JP Rizal Street (Hwy 327) which will link the tollway with the Lungsod Silangan area and the relatively less developed municipalities of San Mateo and Montalban in Rizal Province.
6. Commonwealth Avenue which will link the tollway to large residential areas and the Batasan Pambansa complex in north Quezon City
7. Quirino Highway which will link the tollway to large residential estates and industrial zones in north Quezon City and Caloocan City
8. the Manila North Expressway in Meycauayan which will serve as the north terminus and link the tollway to north Luzon provinces.

Kaso napakatagal pa ng simula ng konstruksyon (2011) at ng operasyon (2014)

Navotas, San Pedro methane power plants eyed

Tranzen Group Inc., the holding company of businessman Salvador Zamora II, is looking at building two more methane-based power facilities in San Pedro, Laguna and Navotas at an estimated combined cost of $42 million.

Tranzen and partner Carbon Capital Markets of the UK yesterday inaugurated the P1.5-billion Montalban landfill facility of unit Montalban Methane Power Corp. in Rodriguez, Rizal. Montalban Methane has an annual rated capacity of 15 megawatts.

The municipality of Rodriguez in Rizal province contracted Montalban Methane to build and operate the landfill gas-to-power facility.

The proposed San Pedro facility, meanwhile, will be capable of generating about 4 MW while Navotas, now in the pre-feasibility study, can produce about 10 MW of power.

“These facilities collect methane and convert it to power. This way, it helps mitigate the ill effects of methane in environment. We may start construction of the facilities by the fourth quarter. Construction is around 12 months,” Danilo Cantiller, executive vice president of Montalban Methane, told reporters during the inauguration ceremonies.

A methane plant costs around $2 million to $3 million per MW to construct.

Cantiller said the company was waiting for the passage of the Renewable Energy Bill before investing more in the renewable energy sector. Biomass, one of the renewable sources of energy, gives off methane gas, which can be converted into electricity.

“We may also go into wind and mini-hydro. We’re in the process of getting permits and pre-feasibility studies for these,” he said. He said the company was looking into hydropower projects in Mindanao and wind project sites in Ilocos Norte.

The Zamora group is also looking at similar methane-based power projects in Angeles City, Olongapo City, Davao City and
San Mateo, Rizal.

Cantiller said Montalban Methane was negotiating with Manila Electric Co. to sell electricity at around P4 to P5 per kilowatt-hour.
